Play Deliberations with Poker Positions

Position is crucial particularly in limit and no-limit poker. Here are some instances where poker position is decisive for winning.

When in early position we are first to act in the hand and would not be benefited by what bet strategies we would see from other players were we to play in a later position. Periodically we'd call using a hand from early position but the only effect would be to have the pot raised and re-raised after us. In such play scenario, being helplessly watching the development, we might just decide to fold and say goodbye to our initial investment.

When acting from late position we get a good idea of the pot odds in the hand and the prospect of being a late player again the next round of play. Thus, we may choose to play many hands in this position than in early position. Hand play selections always have to regard positioning, like when having to act first before the flop we must play very tightly. Late position gives us unique chances for bluffing, like when every player checks we may choose to bet or see a free card. The same prospects for semi-bluffs. Early position does not allow us to call with any hand as late position does. Late position can often promise us the blinds and antes.

If the game gets too loose and pre-flop raising has been minimal Poker position has not much use as when we're playing a tight and aggressive poker. Drawing hands are tolerable in early position because hits or draws could happen and no one is likely to raise the pot. Whereas, if the game is a tight and aggressive one, early position means an uncomfortable extreme tightness. Ordinarily, we would prefer loose and passive bettors to our right and the tight and aggressive bettors out of the way to our left at mid-position. Lose players like calling with many hands and this is good when we're building a pot. Anyway, we act after them and have a position on these players.

Acting after loose callers with unstable hands enables us to capitalize on these players' undoing. Having tight players to our left can enable us to steal the blinds from them and possible win more pots by wagering into these players using bluffs.
